Maria D. Rios is the President & CEO of Classico Building Maintenance Inc. (“Classico BMI”), one of New York State’s and New York City’s most successful Minority Women Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (“MWDBE”) firms, with locations in the Bronx and Queens. Classico offers full-service custodial building maintenance and construction cleaning and trade labor services to some of NY’s top developers and government agencies.
Classico has been a part of the team on some of NYC’s most notable projects including the redevelopment of Moynihan Station, Jacob Javits Expansion, New Yankee Stadium, JFK Terminal 8, and LaGuardia Airport. Maria Rios has forged long-standing partnerships with top real estate developers, construction managers and government agency clients, leading to a number of key accomplishments for the firm including:
⦁ Classico has been providing mechanical maintenance services for over nine years to the Related Companies at Bronx Terminal Market, a 1M sq. ft commercial retail hub in the heart of the Bronx;
⦁ From 2020-2022, Classico has teamed up with Holt Construction on the redevelopment of JFK Terminal 8, delivering on a $2M+ contract to provide construction labor clean-up, operating engineers and skilled laborers;
⦁ Classico’s team most recently worked on the La Central Commercial Development project with 1,000 mixed income housing units in the South Bronx, delivering on a $4M multi-year contract to provide construction labor cleanup, punch list and final cleaning services.
Ms. Rios has received citations of merit and proclamations from the Bronx Borough President, the NYS Comptroller, Chambers of Commerce, and the Regional Alliance for Small Contractors. Ms. Rios’ accomplishments also include the LaGuardia Community College 10,000 Small Business Certificate of Entrepreneurship; the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program; and MTA’s Tier 1 Small Business Mentoring Program. In 2017, Maria Rios and Classico were profiled as one of the MTA’s successful firms, as part of the MTA DBE “Standing the Test of Time” campaign launched across the NYC Subway and Bus Transit System.
